A letter from the organisers.
London as the Bridge for Latin America
London has long been one of the world’s leading financial and innovation capitals. It is home to hundreds of global headquarters, multinational corporates, DFIs, and capital providers with active mandates in emerging markets. Yet, despite Latin America’s scale and dynamism, the region often lacks direct channels to these decision-makers, and London has historically developed wider networks across the EMEA region. LOLA was designed to close that gap.
By bringing funds, founders, and entrepreneurial talent from Latin America into direct contact with the corporates, investors, and service providers concentrated in London, we create a powerful anchor point that can open concrete business and investment opportunities:
Capital mobilisation: London hosts development finance institutions (BII, IFC, IDB Invest, CAF) as well as global investors, all of which are actively deploying resources in Latin America. Positioning London as a neutral meeting point makes it easier for these institutions to connect with local fund managers, founders, and corporates seeking growth finance.
Corporate partnerships: Multinationals with headquarters in London, from banks (Santander, HSBC, BBVA) and technology leaders (Google, Meta, Microsoft, AWS) to energy giants (BP, Shell, Iberdrola, Anglo American), have a strong presence across Latin America and are constantly exploring new ventures, supply-chain partnerships, and investment opportunities in the region.
Talent and innovation flow: London’s universities, accelerators, and professional networks host one of the largest Latin American diasporas in Europe. By linking this talent pool with investors and corporates, LoLa strengthens the pipeline of expertise and innovation that can flow back to Latin America while providing Latin American entrepreneurs with a launchpad for European markets.
London as an anchor for Europe: Beyond the UK, London is the natural gateway to European institutional investors, corporates, and policymakers. Deals initiated in London often unlock pan-European expansion, regulatory visibility, and multi-market capital access. For Latin American firms, this means that entering London can accelerate access to the entire European market.
LoLa leverages London’s unique position as a global capital hub to ensure that Latin America is not only represented but actively engaged in the conversations that shape global capital flows, corporate strategies, and innovation agendas. By linking the region’s most dynamic funds, startups, and talent with the decision-makers who sit in London, we aim to turn connections into tangible business opportunities, partnerships, and long-term investment.
